Death Marks Third Homicide in Two Days in Amarillo

The futility continues for Amarillo as a third homicide victim in as little as two days has been reported.

Ofelia Lopez’ husband called 911 at around 1:20 pm Friday because he came home to find her unconscious. She was dead upon paramedic arrival despite numerous attempts to revive her.

The results of an autopsy that was concluded Monday say the 52 year old was a victim of a homicide. She was originally scheduled for a normal autopsy, but the doctor referred her body to a criminal mortuary after discovering injuries to her nech and head.Further investigation showed that she died from a gunshot wound.

The beginning of October marks the start of the pot harvest in Mexico, a harvest which ends in February for Mexican drug cartels – their number one cash crop, naturally. The cartels must make room for the new harvest, so they have to get rid of the old stuff by sending it over the Texas border.

Amarillo Man Runs Over Girlfriend With Truck

An argument led to a 26 year old Amarillo woman getting run over and killed by her boyfriend, according to a report in the Amarillo Globe.

Michael Buse, a 43 year old hothead from Amarillo, is now being charged with murder. Daisy Strout’s body was found crushed in the Chisum Building’s parking lot at 4:20 am Sunday. An investigation revealed that she was run over at a low speed, and an autopsy showed that her upper body was completely crushed by the Chevy Avalanche.

Men Take Stolen Truck on Chase, Many Vehicles Damaged

It was not a good day to be a driver in Amarillo Wednesday.

Police noticed a truck that had been reported stolen in a parking lot near 11th Avenue and South Grand. When police pursued, three men got into the car and recklessly led police on a chase, leaving a path of damaged cars behind.

Police were told to back off when the truck sped through a residential area, but not before the truck sideswiped three vehicles and forced one into a light pole – this wrecked motorist was giving chase to the men.
