Popular Restaurant Destroyed by Fire

A popular north Amarillo restaurant was battered by a fire Saturday evening.

Broken glass, blackened metal and residual ashes now fill the parking lot of Tony’s Restaurant on the corner of Fillmore and NE 11th Street. Firefighters were called to the once-bustling restaurant at around 8pm Saturday as flames shot through the roof. Thirty firefighters from five units fought the flames and finally contained it with aerial ladders after three hours. The building still stands, but was damaged beyond recognition by the blaze.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by fire officials, and there is no word as to how much damage the fire caused in dollars.
