A suicidal Amarillo man fell asleep during a police standoff this morning.
Amarillo Police were tipped off by a worried family member who said the man was drinking heavily and had access to a plethora of guns. They got to the home at about 5 am to be greeted with the sound of a gunshot coming from the interior of the home on Cypress Point. It is unknown as to whether or not he was firing at the officers.
SWAT teams and negotiators were then called to the property, but it was deemed pointless as they found the man asleep. They took the man to a local hospital to be evaluated, and an investigation is underway.
