Reports of Hot Air Balloon Being Shot Down Were False

If you heard that a hot air balloon was shot down in a race on Saturday near Amarillo, you were majorly misinformed, according to Swisher County police.

Reports from TV said that someone on the ground shot a hot air balloon out of the sky as it was in a race originating in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The reports said after it had been shot, the balloon had to make an emergency landing near Plainview. When authorities came to the alleged landing area, the balloon was there with the two occupants claiming they had been shot at.

Authorities saw four men harvesting milo – one of the men told police he was shooting at gophers with a .22 cal rifle, but never shot into the air. The worker dug his own grave by telling them he did shoot across the road – a Texas crime that he was arrested for.

When all was said and done, no damage was found to the balloon, and the embellished report came from a wire from police that a balloon had been shot at – not shot down.

Oh my goodness! an incredible article dude. Thanks. I thought it was pretty crazy that someone would shoot it down. There are some wild people around, but it seemed too much, even there.
